The difference

The main difference between Sunni and Shīʿah Islam is in the leadership structure. The leadership in Sunnī Islam by consensus of scholars.

As far as I know, jama'ah was the consensus of the companions (ra) and also is a general principle as you mentioned that the Ummah will not come together to agree on an error, therefore it is best to stay with the majority group and not splinter off, as you mentioned. "
