Naḥnu (@nHn@) — in My Majesty, I; My Majesty

  • majestic ‘we’

In the Qurʾān, the pronoun Naḥnu has two meanings:

  • we (plural)
  • we (singular and majestic)

Arabic grammatical plural does not mean multiple beings in the case of Allāh

excellence, power, and dignity

it has an entirely different meaning, similar to the old-fashioned royal We in English

Because the pronoun ‘we’ is used almost exclusively for multiple beings in English , it’s a poor translation choice. Better is simply 'in my Majesty, I...' or ‘My Majesty’.
