Chapter 105

Verse 1

Abdel Haleem Do you [Prophet] not see how your Lord dealt with the army of the elephant?
Yusuf Ali Seest thou not how thy Lord dealt with the Companions of the Elephant?
W. Khan Have you not seen how your Lord dealt with the people of the elephant?
M. Sarwar Have you not considered how your Lord dealt with the people of the elephant?

Verse 2

Abdel Haleem Did He not utterly confound their plans?
Yusuf Ali Did He not make their treacherous plan go astray?
W. Khan Did He not foil their strategy
M. Sarwar Did He not cause their evil plots to fail

Verse 3

Abdel Haleem He sent ranks of birds against them,
Yusuf Ali And He sent against them Flights of Birds,
W. Khan and send against them flocks of birds,
M. Sarwar by sending against them flocks of swallows

Verse 4

Abdel Haleem pelting them with pellets of hard-baked clay:
Yusuf Ali Striking them with stones of baked clay.
W. Khan which pelted them with clay stones?
M. Sarwar which showered them with small pebbles of clay

Verse 5

Abdel Haleem He made them [like] cropped stubble.
Yusuf Ali Then did He make them like an empty field of stalks and straw, (of which the corn) has been eaten up.
W. Khan Thus He made them like stubble cropped by cattle?
M. Sarwar to turn them into (something) like the left-over grass grazed by cattle.
