Chapter 114: al-Nās — Humanity

  1. Say:
    I take sanctuary with the Guardian of the people,
  2. The King of the People,
  3. The God of the People,
  4. From the harm of the retreating whisperer

Surah 113 (evils outside your control)

Qurah 114 are evils in your control. you are the one acting on the invitation to evil. you're liable for.

heart is like a castle, outside it the chest. iblis has access to the chest, the yard, but not in the heart/castle yet. only you have keys to that door to let him in.

After reciting Sūrat al-Nās, the prophet Muḥammad ﷺ would recite Sūrat al-Fātihah.

  1. Say: I seek protection from the Rabb of humanity,
  2. The supreme Ruler of humanity,
  3. The one worshipped by humanity,
  4. Against the negative influence of the retreating devil that chatters
  5. And chatters into the subconscious (the chest outside the heart) of human beings,
  6. Whether through invisible creatures or from human beings.

  1. qul aʿūdhu bi-rabbi al-nās
  2. māliki al-nās
  3. ilāhi al-nās
  4. min sharri al-waswāsi al-khannās
  5. alladhī yuwaswisu fī ṣudūri al-nās
  6. min al-jinnati wa-al-nās

Verse 1

Abdel Haleem Say, ‘I seek refuge with the Lord of people,
Y. Emerick Say: I seek safety with the Lord of people,
W. Khan Say, ‘I seek refuge in the Lord of people,
Umm Muhammad Say, “I seek refuge in the Lord of mankind,

Verse 2

Abdel Haleem the Controller of people,
Y. Emerick The Ruler of people,
W. Khan the King of people,
Umm Muhammad The Sovereign of mankind.

Verse 3

Abdel Haleem the God of people,
Y. Emerick the God of people,
W. Khan the God of people,
Umm Muhammad The God of mankind,

Verse 4

Abdel Haleem against the harm of the slinking whisperer —
Y. Emerick from the subtle temptations of evil,
W. Khan from the mischief of every sneaking whisperer,
Umm Muhammad From the evil of the retreating whisperer —

Verse 5

Abdel Haleem who whispers into the hearts of people —
Y. Emerick whispered into the hearts of people
W. Khan who whispers into the hearts of people,
Umm Muhammad Who whispers [evil] into the breasts of mankind —

Verse 6

Abdel Haleem whether they be jinn or people.’
Y. Emerick by jinns or other people.
W. Khan from jinn and men.’
Umm Muhammad From among the jinn and mankind.”
