W. Khan They will not hear therein anything vain, only greetings of peace. They will receive their provision there morning and evening.
M. Sarwar They will not hear therein any meaningless words. They will be greeted (by the angels) with "Peace be with you," and they will receive their sustenance both in the mornings and evenings.

Verse 63

Abdel Haleem That is the Garden We shall give as their own to those of Our servants who were devout.

M. Sarwar Such are the gardens which We will give to Our God-fearing servants as their inherited property.

Verse 64

Abdel Haleem [Gabriel said],‘We only descend [with revelation] at your Lord’s command––everything before us, everything behind us, everything in between, all belongs to Him––your Lord is never forgetful.
Yusuf Ali (The angels say:) "We descend not but by command of thy Lord: to Him belongeth what is before us and what is behind us, and what is between: and thy Lord never doth forget,-
W. Khan We never descend except at your Lord’s command. What is before us and behind us and all that lies between belong to Him. Your Lord is not forgetful.
M. Sarwar (Muhammad), we (the angels) do not come to you without being commanded by your Lord to do so. To Him belongs all that is before us, behind us, and in between. Your Lord is not forgetful.

Verse 65

Abdel Haleem He is Lord of the heavens and earth and everything in between so worship Him: be steadfast in worshipping Him. Do you know of anyone equal to Him?’
Yusuf Ali "Lord of the heavens and of the earth, and of all that is between them; so worship Him, and be constant and patient in His worship: knowest thou of any who is worthy of the same Name as He?"
W. Khan He is the Lord of the heavens and of the earth and of all that is between the two. So worship Him alone and be steadfast in His worship. Do you know of anyone equal to Him in His attributes?
M. Sarwar He is the Lord of the heavens and the earth and all that is between them. Worship Him and be steadfast in your worship of Him; none is equal to Him.

Verse 66

Abdel Haleem Man says, ‘What? Once I am dead, will I be brought back to life?’

M. Sarwar The human being says, "Shall I be brought to life again after I will die?"

Verse 67

Abdel Haleem but does man not remember that We created him when he was nothing before?

M. Sarwar Does he not remember that We created him when he did not exist?

Verse 68

Abdel Haleem By your Lord [Prophet] We shall gather them and the devils together and set them on their knees around Hell;
Yusuf Ali So, by thy Lord, without doubt, We shall gather them together, and (also) the Evil Ones (with them); then shall We bring them forth on their knees round about Hell;
W. Khan By your Lord, We shall most surely gather them and the devils too; and bring them close to hell on their knees.
M. Sarwar By your Lord, We will bring them back to life with satan and gather them around hell in large groups.

Verse 69

Abdel Haleem We shall seize out of each group those who were most disobedient towards the Lord of Mercy-
Yusuf Ali Then shall We certainly drag out from every sect all those who were worst in obstinate rebellion against (Allah) Most Gracious.
W. Khan Then We shall carry off from every group those who were most stubborn in their opposition to the Gracious One—
M. Sarwar Then We will separate from every group those who were strongly rebellious against the Beneficent God.

Verse 70

Abdel Haleem We know best who most deserves to burn in Hell-

W. Khan We surely know best those most deserving of the fires of hell—
M. Sarwar We know best who deserves greater suffering in hell fire.

Verse 71

Abdel Haleem but every single one of you will approach it, a decree from your Lord which must be fulfilled.
Yusuf Ali Not one of you but will pass over it: this is, with thy Lord, a Decree which must be accomplished.

M. Sarwar It is the inevitable decree of your Lord that every one of you will be taken to hell.

Verse 72

Abdel Haleem We shall save the devout and leave the evildoers there on their knees.

M. Sarwar We will save the pious ones from the hell fire and leave the unjust people therein in crowded groups.

Verse 73

Abdel Haleem When Our revelations are recited to them in all their clarity, [all that] the disbelievers say to the believers [is], ‘Which side is better situated? Which side has the better following?’
Yusuf Ali When Our Clear Signs are rehearsed to them, the Unbelievers say to those who believe, "Which of the two sides is best in point of position? Which makes the best show in council?"
W. Khan When Our clear revelations are recited to them, those who deny the truth say to the faithful, ‘Which of the two sides is better in respect of position and makes a more impressive assembly?’
M. Sarwar When Our revelations are recited to them, the unbelievers say to the faithful ones, "Which of us is more prosperous?"

Verse 74

Abdel Haleem We have destroyed many a generation before them who surpassed them in riches and outward glitter!
Yusuf Ali But how many (countless) generations before them have we destroyed, who were even better in equipment and in glitter to the eye?

M. Sarwar How many generations of greater prosperity and splendor have We destroyed before them?

Verse 75

Abdel Haleem Say [Prophet], ‘The Lord of Mercy lengthens [the lives] of the misguided, until, when they are confronted with what they have been warned about- either the punishment [in this life] or the Hour [of Judgement]- they realize who is worse situated and who has the weakest forces.’
Yusuf Ali Say: "If any men go astray, (Allah) Most Gracious extends (the rope) to them, until, when they see the warning of Allah (being fulfilled) - either in punishment or in (the approach of) the Hour,- they will at length realise who is worst in position, and (who) weakest in forces!
W. Khan Say, ‘The Gracious One grants respite for a time to those who are in error until, when they are confronted with what they are promised, either in punishment [in the world] or in [the approach of] the Hour, they will realize who is worse in respect of position and who is weaker in resources.’
M. Sarwar (Muhammad), tell them, "The Beneficent God gives respite to those who have gone astray only until they face the torment with which they were threatened or to the Day of Judgment. Then they will find out who will have the most miserable place and the weakest forces.

Verse 76

Abdel Haleem But God gives more guidance to those who are guided, and good deeds of lasting merit are best and most rewarding in your Lord’s sight.
Yusuf Ali "And Allah doth advance in guidance those who seek guidance: and the things that endure, Good Deeds, are best in the sight of thy Lord, as rewards, and best in respect of (their) eventual return."
W. Khan God increases His guidance to those who follow guidance; and lasting good works are better in the sight of your Lord and are most rewarding.
M. Sarwar God further enlightens those who seek guidance. To those who do charitable deeds which produce continuing benefits, your Lord will give a better reward and a better place in Paradise.

Verse 77

Abdel Haleem Have you considered the man who rejects Our revelation, who says, ‘I will certainly be given wealth and children’?
Yusuf Ali Hast thou then seen the (sort of) man who rejects Our Signs, yet says: "I shall certainly be given wealth and children?"

M. Sarwar Has he the knowledge of the unseen or has the Beneficent God established such a binding agreement with Him?

Verse 79

Abdel Haleem No! We shall certainly record what he says and prolong his punishment:

Abdel Haleem They have taken other gods beside God to give them strength,
Yusuf Ali And they have taken (for worship) gods other than Allah, to give them power and glory!
W. Khan They have taken other deities besides God, so that they may be a source of strength for them.
M. Sarwar They have sought honor from other gods instead of God.

Verse 82

Abdel Haleem but these gods will reject their worship and will even turn against them.
Yusuf Ali Instead, they shall reject their worship, and become adversaries against them.
W. Khan But they shall reject their worship and turn against them.
M. Sarwar In fact, they can have no honor; their gods will renounce their worship of idols and will turn against them.

Verse 83

Abdel Haleem Have you [Prophet] not seen how We send devils to incite the disbelievers to sin?
Yusuf Ali Seest thou not that We have set the Evil Ones on against the unbelievers, to incite them with fury?
W. Khan Do you not see that We have appointed devils to incite those who deny the truth to disobedience?
M. Sarwar Do you not realize that We have sent Satan to incite the unbelievers to sin.

Verse 84

Abdel Haleem There is no need for you to be impatient concerning them: We are counting down their [allotted] time.
Yusuf Ali So make no haste against them, for We but count out to them a (limited) number (of days).
W. Khan So take no hasty action against them; their days are numbered.
M. Sarwar (Muhammad), exercise patience; We have given them respite only for an appointed time.

Verse 85

Abdel Haleem On the Day We gather the righteous as an honoured company before the Lord of Mercy
Yusuf Ali The day We shall gather the righteous to (Allah) Most Gracious, like a band presented before a king for honours,

Verse 86

Abdel Haleem and drive the sinful like a thirsty herd into Hell,

M. Sarwar no one will be able to intercede for the others except those whom the Beneficent God has given authority.

Verse 88

Abdel Haleem The disbelievers say, ‘The Lord of Mercy has offspring.’
Yusuf Ali They say: "(Allah) Most Gracious has begotten a son!"
W. Khan They say, ‘The Gracious One has begotten a son.’
M. Sarwar They have said that the Beneficent God has given birth to a son.

M. Sarwar This is certainly a monstrous lie!

Verse 90

Abdel Haleem it almost causes the heavens to be torn apart, the earth to split asunder, the mountains to crumble to pieces,
Yusuf Ali At it the skies are ready to burst, the earth to split asunder, and the mountains to fall down in utter ruin,
W. Khan the heavens might well-nigh burst thereat, and the earth break asunder, and the mountains fall down in pieces,
M. Sarwar This would almost cause the heavens to rent apart, the earth to cleave asunder and the mountains to crumble down in fragments,

Verse 91

Abdel Haleem that they attribute offspring to the Lord of Mercy.
Yusuf Ali That they should invoke a son for (Allah) Most Gracious.
W. Khan because they ascribe a son to the Gracious One.
M. Sarwar to ascribe a son to the Beneficent God.

Verse 92

Abdel Haleem It does not befit the Lord of Mercy [to have offspring]:
Yusuf Ali For it is not consonant with the majesty of (Allah) Most Gracious that He should beget a son.
W. Khan It does not become the majesty of the Compassionate God to take to Himself a son:
M. Sarwar The Beneficent God is too Exalted to have a son.

Verse 93

Abdel Haleem there is no one in the heavens or earth who will not come to the Lord of Mercy as a servant-

Verse 95

Abdel Haleem and they will each return to Him on the Day of Resurrection all alone.

M. Sarwar To the righteously striving believers God will grant love.

Verse 97

Abdel Haleem We have made it easy, in your own language [Prophet], so that you may bring glad news to the righteous and warnings to a stubborn people.
Yusuf Ali So have We made the (Qur'an) easy in thine own tongue, that with it thou mayest give Glad Tidings to the righteous, and warnings to people given to contention.
W. Khan We have made it [the Quran] easy, in your own language [Prophet], so that you may convey glad news to the righteous and give warning to a stubborn people.
M. Sarwar (Muhammad), We have given you the Book (the Quran) in your own language so that you could easily give the glad news to the pious ones and warn the quarrelsome ones.

Verse 98

Abdel Haleem How many generations We have destroyed before them! Do you perceive a single one of them now, or hear as much as a whisper?
Yusuf Ali But how many (countless) generations before them have We destroyed? Canst thou find a single one of them (now) or hear (so much as) a whisper of them?
W. Khan How many generations We have destroyed before them! Can you find a single one of them alive now, or hear so much as a whisper from them?
M. Sarwar How many generations living before them did We destroy? Do you find anyone of them around or do you even hear any word from them?
