Chapter 95

Verse 1

Abdel Haleem By the fig, by the olive,
Yusuf Ali By the Fig and the Olive,
W. Khan By the Fig and the Olive,
M. Sarwar By the fig, by the olive,

Verse 2

Abdel Haleem by Mount Sinai,
Yusuf Ali And the Mount of Sinai,
W. Khan and by Mount Sinai,
M. Sarwar by Mount Sinai

Verse 3

Abdel Haleem by this safe town,
Yusuf Ali And this City of security,-
W. Khan and by this secure land,
M. Sarwar and by this inviolable city, Mecca.

Verse 4

Abdel Haleem We create man in the finest state
Yusuf Ali We have indeed created man in the best of moulds,
W. Khan We have indeed created man in the best of mould,
M. Sarwar We have created the human being in the best form

Verse 5

Abdel Haleem then reduce him to the lowest of the low,
Yusuf Ali Then do We abase him (to be) the lowest of the low,-
W. Khan then We cast him down as the lowest of the low,
M. Sarwar and We shall make him the lowest of low

Verse 6

Abdel Haleem except those who believe and do good deeds––
Yusuf Ali Except such as believe and do righteous deeds: For they shall have a reward unfailing.
W. Khan except for those who believe and do good deeds—theirs shall be an unending reward!
M. Sarwar except the righteously striving believers who will have a never ending reward.

Verse 7

Abdel Haleem they will have an unfailing reward. After this, what makes you [man] deny the Judgement?
Yusuf Ali Then what can, after this, contradict thee, as to the judgment (to come)?
W. Khan What then after this, can make you deny the Last Judgement?
M. Sarwar After (knowing) this, what makes you still disbelieve in the Day of Judgment?

Verse 8

Abdel Haleem Is God not the most decisive of judges?
Yusuf Ali Is not Allah the wisest of judges?
W. Khan Is not God the greatest of the judges?
M. Sarwar Is God not the best of the Judges?
